Adjusted all door deadbolts. Replaced some HVAC grates. Sprayed sealant at one possible insect area. Got a cat! Replaced about 20 lightbulbs with high efficiency LEDs. Installed smart home automation โ about 10 switches, presence and motion sensors, Alexa voice control, programmed automations. Installed a smart thermostat. Repaired loose light fixtures. Replaced failing motion-activated security lighting in the garage. Set up the wall-mounted TV. Patched screw holes. Installed a toilet paper holder and guestroom blinds. Filled a driveway pothole. Replaced the fridge. Cleaned furnace filters. Replaced all three smoke detectors and one carbon monoxide detector with smart combos. Cleaned the BBQ and replaced burner covers.
2018 house stuff (todo)
Learn the security system. Pave the driveway. Fix the garage door remote range. Replace the glitchy living room ceiling fan. Install island drop lighting. Learn gardening. Fire pit and lawn furnishings. Jack up a sagging porch support. Re-shingle the roof. Theatre room: take out a wall, tiered seating, carpet, lighting, projector.
More
A lot more happened in 2017 than the house. I got to see Mumbai, a beautiful city more impressive than I ever imagined. Hazel moved in with me, which makes the new house so much more important. I had a little car accident and we bought a new car. Bigger than anything else, I became an uncle when my brother started the next generation of Davidsons with a beautiful baby girl named Bellamie. It was a truly wonderful year.
