Speaking Out
2020-06-05
I’ve always enjoyed LegalEagle’s content and his perspective. I’ve never seen him make such a personal and opinionated video before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z56j06plUgs I’m afraid to get dragged into this much. I don’t want to glorify looting and anarchy, I don’t want to witch hunt, I don’t want to encourage following anecdotes and selective data over careful statistics, and I don’t want to soapbox as if this is about me. I do care though, and Black Lives Matter. This movement has come back with a vengeance, and I hope it sticks. Most importantly, I hope people in all vocations see the importance of speaking out against their colleagues and authority figures when it’s so clearly required. We’ve seen over and over again how people can become timid and complicit, but technology can catalyze change in our standards and expectations. Police and other agencies need intense training and conditioning on integrity, on when and how to take a stand. I hope people feel empowered to speak up when they think back on these protests going forward. YOUTUBE.COM American Carnage at Lafayette Square
